Dear Friends and Family,
For our final day in Switzerland, we of course started our day by looking for a bakery. We found one after walking through the old town and had delicious baked goodies, including a wonderful spinach quiche. Luckily, the bakery was right across from a chocolate shop. So, we went in and bought some chocolate. It was incredibly delicious. Kathy had a chocolate covered apricot, and Lee and I had some dark chocolate (I don't remember the name). We also bought a chocolate bar with rosemary and apricot, which ended up being SO delicious. We finished it so fast.
After the chocolate shop, we found a grocery shop to buy stuff for our lunch. We also decided that a bottle of wine would go well with our lunch. So, we took forever to decide because none of us know anything about wine. But we finally decided when we saw a musician immediately find a bottle of wine. It was such a good decision to trust the almost starving musician because it was good wine for a really cheap price.
We then went to this old wall, which used to be a defense of some sort. It gave a pretty cool view of the city while we ate lunch.
Lee and I then parted ways with Kathy, who the following day left for the Philippines. So while she went to Zurich to catch her flight, Lee and I made our way to Paris. Unfortunately, French trains hate us and we couldn't get reservations for any TGV (high speed train) to Paris. (France gives very little spots for EuRail pass holders, which is what Lee and I had). We therefore, caught 4 different trains and a bus to get to Paris.
My wonderful friend Eva, who I went to high school with, is currently in Paris for a Chemistry internship and was able to meet us at the train station and let us sleep in her apartment for a night. We then headed to her apartment, where she had a bottle of Champagne and we had half of our bottle of wine from lunch. We then had a wonderful night talking and catching up on our lives and didn't end up going to bed until late.
Love,
Rosalie
